Launching Ceremony of HKPC-APAS Green Transportation R&D Results Hybrid E-Coach & 16T Pure Electric Truck

Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems (APAS) R&D Centre of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) has hosted a launching ceremony for the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Coach and 16-tonne Pure Electric Truck on 26 October at the Eco Expo Asia International Trade Fair. Both projects are funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund of the HKSAR Government and industry partners.

Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC delivered a welcome speech at the launching ceremony. Mr Bryan Ha, Assistant Commissioner (Funding Schemes) for Innovation and Technology and Mr Willy Lin witness Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC, handing over the vehicles to the projects’ industry partners – Mr Charles Chong, Chairman of Green Mobility Innovations Ltd., and Ms Susanna Ng, Director of E. Tech Dynamic Technology Co. Ltd.

The 12-metre plug-in hybrid electric coach, the-first-of-its-kind to be designed, developed and assembled in Hong Kong, can recharge its Lithium Titanate batteries on the fly, thereby fulfilling the busy turnaround cycles required by the commercial fleet operator.

The 16-tonne pure electric truck provides a zero-emission solution, for instance, for the transport of construction and building material waste. Specifically designed for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, the truck features a universal chassis design that can also be used in garbage trucks, box type and other heavy-duty vehicles. It also features a hill-hold-and-start function.

The prototype vehicles were display at the Eco Expo Asia until 29 October, which will be followed by a series of road tests.
